*Tour De Taiwan - 國際自由車環台賽台北站

Tour de Taiwan is the premier bicycle race in Taiwan. A total of seven stages decides who can wear the yellow jersey.

After a bit or research, I am able to understand the basics for the race. Like any other sport, teamwork and tactics are very important in winning. From the beginning of the race, a group of rider will try to break away from the main group (主集團, peloton, メイン集団) and form a small leading group (領先集團, 逃げ集団). Usually the aces of the team will remain in the main group to save energy until they reach a critical section of a race. Stronger riders will try to drop their competitors during tough sections such as long climbs. Within a team, assistant riders play their role to help the ace. Their missions include riding in front of the ace to reduce the drag, or preventing strong competitors to break away.

The yellow jersey is worn by the overall winner. Green is for sprint points leader. White with red dots is for the king of mountains. Blue one is worn by the leading Asian rider.

The 7th (last) stage takes place on the rectangular route surrounding Taipei city hall. The total is 63km and the average speed is about 46 km/hr
