*Taipei new and old - 新舊台北

Located in the east side of Taipei, Taipei 101 is the landmark of this city. The fireworks show is broadcasted to the world every new year's eve.

The surrounding area has become the new epicenter of Taipei. Here you can find office towers, dept stores, cinemas, luxury housing for wealthy people, street performers, night clubs, and the trendiest girls. Literally everything is new here.

In contrast, the west side of Taipei was the origin of the city. Many old buildings are preserved and found their new life.
Built in 1933, the Landbank building is now renovated as a museum.

Zhongshan Hall was the former Taipei City Hall under the rule of Japanese. In 1945, it was the place Japanese official surrendered Taiwan to the Chinese government at that time. Today this place serves as a venue for performance art.

The monument has its origin back in 1882. It was erected to commemorate a good widow, who took care of her father and mother in law and raised her children on her own. This kind of monument can be found in many places in Taiwan. The purpose is to set a good example for other citizens.
