*松井秀喜と河野和洋 Matsui Hideki and Kohno Katsuhiro

(1992 Koshien baseball tournament second round, Kohno Katsuhiro pitching against Matsui Hideki)

We know Godzilla will play for Anaheim Angels this season in MLB, but who is Kohno?

Back in 1992, when Matsui was playing in Japan's Koshien high school baseball tournament, he was intentionally walked 5 times in one game. His team lost 2 to 3 and was eliminated. Kohno was the pitcher on the mound, who only made it because his team's ace was injured.

(Disappointed fans threw stuff onto the ground after the 5th walk)

After college, Kohno had played for the amateur Yamaha baseball team until 1999. Aiming to join the professional league, He quited Yamaha but didn't make it in the end. He went on to play in the independent league in the US for some time. In 2008, he joined a Japanese amateur team, as outfielder and coach. Guess what his number is? 55, same as Matsui.

Kohno and Matsui share the same spirit and love toward baseball. While talented Matsui shone in the major league, unknown Kohno also found his way of loving and playing baseball.

Where would Kohno end up if this story has its background in Taiwan? Probably selling hot food or working at a construction site. Whichever way it is, nobody would give it a damn.
